The population of Hallstatt is only about 1,000 people, but it is a heritage village. Through the ups and downs of history, Hallstatt has preserved its pristine and alluring beauty. Every detail of the village, from the narrow streets, gently sloping wooden houses on the mountainside, to the ancient churches and medieval castles, has a peculiar charm for visitors. For this reason, in 1997, UNESCO recognized Hallstatt as a World Heritage site and a popular destination attracting many tourists from around the globe.

WHEN TO TRAVEL TO HALLSTATT?

Summer (June to August) here is a paradise for adventure sports such as mountain climbing, mountain biking, hiking, camping, etc.

GETTING TO HALLSTATT
Currently, Vietnam does not have any direct flights to Hallstatt, so you will need to fly to other cities in Austria, either from the capital Vienna or the city of Salzburg, and then use transportation to get here.
The town of Hallstatt does not have trains or buses that go directly here, so you will need to change vehicles a few times. Visitors wanting to visit Hallstatt can go from Vienna or Salzburg in Austria, and also from Munich, Germany. Train and bus are the two main means of transportation to get here.
Bus: From the city of Salzburg, it takes just over 2 hours by bus to Hallstatt. You can buy tickets at the Salzburg bus station or directly from the bus driver for about 16 euros one way.
You should buy a round-trip ticket to ensure your journey. Choose your stop as Hallstatt Lahn and then take the Monorail tram into Hallstatt village.
Long-distance train: If you depart from the capital Vienna or Munich in Germany, the long-distance train might be the most suitable option. From Salzburg, taking the train will take about 2.5 hours, and the train station will be on the opposite side of Lake Hallstätter See. You will need to purchase an additional ticket for the ferry ride across the lake. For many tourists, this ferry ride is a very interesting experience when visiting here.
